Interactive Media Article

OBJECTIVE

To develop an understanding of current Interactive Media properties, trends, formats, and technologies.

DESCRIPTION

Write a post on your website (at least 500 words) about any interactive media topic. You should conduct your own research about some current or future media development, new technology, and its applications, or review a genre of topical websites, podcasts, or video channels.

Sample Subjects include:

  • Augmented or Virtual reality applications or technology (games, business uses, headsets, etc.)
  • Mobile apps for rich media production (recording, editing, streaming, AR production, etc.)
  • Podcasting (personal, topical, marketing, entertainment, news channels, etc.)
  • Online video (personal, topical, marketing, entertainment, news channels, etc.)
  • Interactive media monetization (advertising, subscription, in-app purchases, etc.)
  • Interactive media legal issues (copyright, legislation)
  • Over-the-top (OTT) video (Hulu, etc.)
  • Social video business application
  • Live video streaming applications (marketing, education, webcasting, etc.)

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

Interactive Media Article Topic – 100 points

Submit the topic of your article to the appropriate Dropbox in D2L. (This is a text submission. Just your topic title and a one sentence description.)

Interactive Media Article – 200 points

  • A post to your website of 500 words or more written in web writing format and style. (Yes, spelling, grammar, etc. counts.)
  • Must include hyperlinks in the content to the sources you reference.
  • Include images, graphics, or video to help explain the information.
  • Share the post on one of your social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) with the hashtag #IAM3210.
  • Place the links to your website and social media posts in a Microsoft Word document.

Upload a Microsoft Word doc (Apple Pages and Adobe PDFs will not be accepted, no exceptions) to the appropriate Dropbox in D2L.

Interactive Media Article class presentation – BONUS 30 points

  • Create a 5-minute summary presentation of your article to the class

Upload as a Microsoft PowerPoint file or a link to an online site (Google Slides, Prezi, etc.) in a Microsoft Word doc (Apple Pages and Adobe PDFs will not be accepted, no exceptions) to the appropriate Dropbox in D2L.
