DESCRIPTION

There are three elements to this assignment

  • Create a WordPress-based website
  • Create and/or refine appropriate social media accounts to promote your work
  • Follow social media accounts as assigned and related to your field.

PROJECT DELIVERABLES

WordPress-based Website

You will create a WordPress.com or a hard-coded (HTML, C SS, JavaScript) website. WordPress is an open-source content management platform with web builder capabilities. It enables more than 45% of all websites on the internet and 65% of all content-managed websites. It is a professional platform recognized by employers around the world.

Your website must contain the following pages:

  • Home
  • Portfolio (Projects)
  • About
  • Contact (form and social media handles)

I recommend creating a self-hosted WordPress website with a personal domain instead of a WordPress.com site. Reclaim Hosting has inexpensive yearly student hosting plans.

You may use a WordPress website you created for another class. If you have a completed website on another platform, i.e. Wix, you must get approval before using it for this class.

Social Media Accounts

Instagram square logoYouTube square logoLinkedIn square logoYou are required to have (or open) the following professional accounts. If you have personal accounts already you should either update them for professional use or create accounts specifically for your professional social presence. For best online visibility you should regularly update (post, upload, etc.) those accounts. You will need these accounts to create posts about your projects.

Submit a Word document (no PDFs or Apple Pages, no exceptions) to the D2l dropbox with links to your website and social media accounts. See the Schedule for the Due date.

Social Media Follows

You must connect/follow/like/join/subscribe/add the accounts below:

I will monitor these accounts as you subscribe or follow them.

DUE DATES

  • See the Course Schedule and the D2L dropbox for due dates.
