OBJECTIVE
To expand your understanding of script writing and basic audio production and editing techniques, as well as grasp the creative decision-making process of identifying the best niche for you to serve with your podcast, and understanding how to communicate your “why” behind it.
DESCRIPTION
You will write scripts for both the intro and outro of your podcast, create a written description of your show, develop a Listener Profile, and articulate your “why” utilizing the Worldview Statement template. You will be asked to share your completed “why” with the rest of the class. We’ll also discuss each students niche and their specific choices regarding the Listener Profile.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES (four total)
Listener Profile Worksheet
You will determine the niche your podcast will serve and describe who you see your ideal listener as by answering a series of questions from the worksheet. Each student will share theirs with the class for discussion with the group prior to handing in their work.
Worldview Statement Template
You will complete a Worldview Statement template (to be provided) for the purpose of fleshing out the “Why” for your show. Each student will share theirs with the class for discussion with the group prior to handing in their work.
Intro/Outro Scripts
You will write a one- to two-paragraph (two- to four-sentences each) Intro and Outro script for the show you’re creating.
Podcast Description
Each student will also write a general description of their show (for use in various podcast directories). These will generally be two- to three-paragraphs in length and cover what your show is, what it is not, who it’s designed for, why you believe your show is necessary, and how your show will be formatted.
